KRONBORG CASTLE, HELSINGØR, DENMARK
To illuminate the historic spaces of Kronborg Castle, including Erik of Pomerania’s wine cellar and the Great Hall, Uffe Kjerulf from the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces has designed a candelabrum that elegantly integrates into the castle’s period aesthetics. The candelabrum is created with great respect for traditional lighting methods, enhancing the historic atmosphere of the castle while meeting modern functional requirements—especially since running new cables or similar installations is not an option within the protected surroundings.
This lighting solution plays a discreet yet significant role in reinforcing Kronborg’s authentic ambiance, where every detail pays tribute to the castle’s rich history and importance. The candelabrum stands as a reminder of the grand eras that have unfolded within the castle’s walls, contributing to an experience where past and present merge seamlessly.
