THE DANISH PARLIAMENT - RENOVATION OF CHANDELIER

THE DANISH PARLIAMENT, CHRISTIANSBORG, COPENHAGEN

As part of a comprehensive renovation of the Danish Parliament and its adjacent spaces, Okholm Lighting contributed to the restoration and enhancement of the lighting. One of the most significant projects was the refurbishment of a large and impressive chandelier.

The chandelier was carefully dismantled and transported to Okholm Lighting’s facility in Tønder, where it was fully disassembled for meticulous restoration. All visible surfaces were finely matte-polished and lacquered, while the glass diffusers were thoroughly cleaned.

To ensure compliance with current regulations, all wiring and lamp holders were replaced. Following the restoration, the chandelier was transported back to Christiansborg, reassembled, and installed in its original location.

This project exemplifies the value of restoring and repurposing existing luminaires, both in terms of sustainability and heritage preservation. By retaining and upgrading the original lighting, its technical and aesthetic qualities are enhanced while preserving its integral role in the historical context of the space.
