READ THE STORY OF OKHOLM LIGHTING

OUR PROJECTS HAVE SHAPED OUR STORY

Okholm Lighting is more than a company—it is a story crafted through light, people, and iconic projects. Founded in 1932 as Thomsens Metalvarefabrik, the company was carried forward in 1973 by Hanne and Robert Okholm under the name SCAN METAL, before transforming into Okholm Lighting in 2004. In 2024, Okholm Lighting became part of Carl Hansen & Søn, marking a transition in family ownership—but its DNA remains unchanged.

Through this integration, Okholm Lighting has become part of a larger vision, where craftsmanship meets innovation, and lighting is elevated to new heights—now as Okholm Lighting by Carl Hansen & Søn.

LIGHT THAT CREATES STORIES

From our base in Tønder, we have illuminated spaces across Scandinavia and Europe. With fewer than 20 employees, we have proven that size is no limitation—quality and expertise define us.

Our project portfolio tells the story of a company that has delivered solutions at every scale—no project has been too large, none too small. We have contributed to the lighting of some of the most remarkable architectural projects:

Danish Parliament (Folketinget) – Restoration of chandeliers in the Parliament Hall, meeting rooms, Snapstinget, and the visitor entrance.
More than 1,700 churches in Denmark and Scandinavia, with custom-designed or restored lighting.
Historic buildings, where lighting respects both architecture and history.
Copenhagen Opera House – Custom-designed Bornebusch chandelier in the VIP room.
Naviair & Duborg School – Human Centric Lighting for well-being and comfort.
Amaliehaven – Restoration of the original lighting, enhancing both technical and aesthetic qualities.
Light sculptures from Budapest to Køge—to name just a few.

CUSTOM LIGHTING—BEYOND STANDARD SOLUTIONS

Okholm Lighting is not about mass production. We create unique lighting solutions that respect both their surroundings and the people who experience them. Every project demands precision, vision, and a deep understanding of how light interacts with architecture and space—as well as the flexibility and technical know-how to bring these visions to life.

We collaborate closely with architects, developers, and lighting designers who understand that lighting is not just about visibility—it is about atmosphere, function, and experience.

A BRIGHTLY LIT FUTURE

Our latest projects continue to showcase our expertise:

Restoration and recreation of the original lighting at Lyngby Town Hall.
Renovation of Amaliehaven’s lighting in Copenhagen.
The iconic ring chandelier in the passage between The Black Diamond and The Royal Danish Library.
Development of a lighting concept for the restoration of Ørslev Monastery.
The remarkable Predikheren Monastery project in Belgium.
Restoration of the Danish Parliament Hall’s chandeliers, along with lighting for meeting rooms and Snapstinget.
A complete lighting concept for Duborg School in Flensburg.
The list goes on—and we look forward to adding new projects to our story.
