In London’s exclusive Broadgate district, a luxurious office setting at 9 Appold Street features a spectacular chandelier that spans the entrance like a work of art in its own right. Designed by the architectural firm March & White, this impressive installation functions both as lighting and a piece of art, creating an enthralling atmosphere in the foyer.
Composed around two large structural circles in powder-coated aluminum, the chandelier incorporates matte-brushed stainless steel and polished brass accents. Measuring 6.2 meters in diameter and 90 centimeters in height, the piece elegantly frames the lofty space. Its 144 SCAN pendants, mounted on horizontal pipes, shimmer like small stars and introduce a subtle sense of motion to the light. Each pendant is equipped with dimmable LED sources, allowing the ambiance to be finely tuned to the time of day and desired mood. The room’s black marble walls and bronze detailing form a dramatic yet harmonious contrast to the chandelier’s gleaming components.
A glossy marble floor reflects the sculpture, adding another dimension to the experience—almost as if the light is hovering above a shimmering surface. This careful interplay of materials and illumination makes the installation a masterpiece where architecture meets art, culminating in a sumptuous fusion of light, space, and materiality.
